What is a dedicated IP in LC email?

A Dedicated IP offers a significant benefit by sending your email messages from a unique, exclusive IP address. Email service providers (ESPs) carefully monitor the reputation and behavior of an IP address to determine the deliverability of emails linked to specific domains associated with that IP.
By acquiring a dedicated IP address, your organization gains exclusive control, allowing you to manage the email sender reputation and deliverability tied to that IP. This ensures that your email campaigns aren’t influenced by the behavior of other senders, which can sometimes negatively impact your deliverability.
In this article, we’ll explain what a dedicated IP in LC email is, its pricing, the reasons behind its development, and provide answers to several frequently asked questions.

When Should I Get a Dedicated IP Address?
If you’re sending a large volume of emails, typically in the range of hundreds of thousands to millions per month (especially if you’re exceeding 200,000 emails), it becomes essential to establish a solid reputation on a dedicated IP. While it might be a distinct investment, a dedicated IP ensures that your email reputation and deliverability are controlled solely by your organization’s activities.
Furthermore, setting up email authentication protocols like SPF, DMARC, DKIM, and SSL certificates for enhanced protection against email spoofing becomes crucial. Shared IPs do not provide the same level of security, leaving you vulnerable to issues caused by other senders sharing the same IP address.
A dedicated IP also helps protect against domain hijacking risks, ensuring that your email communications maintain integrity and security.
What Are the Benefits of a Dedicated IP?
Although a dedicated IP can be more expensive than a shared IP, it comes with several distinct advantages:
-
Enhanced Email Performance: Emails sent from dedicated IPs are often delivered more quickly. Major email service providers like Gmail and Yahoo favor messages from dedicated IPs, which increases the likelihood of your emails landing in the inbox rather than the spam folder. Additionally, because you’re not sharing the IP with others, your email performance is not affected by other senders.
-
Full Control Over Sender and IP Reputation: Having a dedicated IP means you’re the only user, giving you total control over your sending habits and IP reputation. This control allows you to create strategies tailored to your needs without interference from other senders.
-
Efficient Problem Resolution: As the only sender on your dedicated IP, identifying and resolving issues related to email performance or IP reputation becomes more straightforward. This helps maintain consistency and reliability in your email delivery.
-
Improved Cybersecurity: A dedicated IP adds an extra layer of security, protecting you against domain hijacking, malware, and hacking attempts, thereby ensuring that your online resources remain secure.
In summary, while dedicated IPs come at a higher cost, the benefits in terms of performance, control, issue resolution, and security make them a valuable investment for organizations with significant email and online needs.
Tips for Sending Emails with Dedicated IPs
Reputation management is crucial when using a dedicated IP. To prevent triggering spam filters, it’s important to manage email volume and timing strategically. Ideally, you should gradually increase the volume of emails sent over a 24-hour period to avoid sudden surges that could raise red flags with email service providers (ESPs).
Dedicated IPs are best utilized for consistently high email volumes. If you only send emails sporadically, high-volume dispatches might backfire, marking you as a potential spammer and risking blocklisting. ESPs are particularly cautious about large, sudden increases in email traffic.
If your email volume is inconsistent, a shared IP might be a better option, as it aligns your sporadic traffic with that of other senders using the same IP.
To address this, our system has automated and perfected the warm-up process for dedicated IPs, ensuring a robust sender reputation. For those who prefer a hands-off approach, we offer a seamless experience where emails may be sent through both the new dedicated IP and the old shared IP during a 50/50 split until the dedicated IP is fully warmed up. This process is key to achieving optimal deliverability and maintaining a positive reputation with ESPs.
It’s important to note that even after a significant amount of time has passed since the IP was assigned, you might still be in the warm-up phase. Patience is essential during this period to ensure continued success with email delivery.
Who Can Buy a Dedicated IP?
Dedicated IPs are available exclusively for agencies on the $297/$2970 and $497/$4970 plans.
We recommend sending a minimum of 50,000 messages per week to maintain a strong reputation and minimize throttling issues with mailbox providers. For optimal deliverability, one dedicated IP address should be allocated for every 1 million emails sent monthly. This approach ensures your email performance is not only sustained but also enhanced.
-
Agencies: Agencies that have been established within the last 14 days are eligible to purchase a dedicated IP.
-
Sub-Accounts: Sub-accounts that meet specific criteria—such as having more than 10,000 contacts or having sent more than 50,000 emails in the past 10 days—are eligible to purchase a dedicated IP, provided the account belongs to an agency established within the last 14 days.
Both agencies and sub-accounts using LC – Email as their email provider are eligible to purchase a dedicated IP.
